This Violin Concerto’s Beautiful Oboe Solo

The beautiful slow movement of  Johannes Brahms Violin Concerto in D Major is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful movements of any violin concerto.

Johannes Brahms [May 7, 1834 – April 3, 1897]

While this is a violin concerto, there is a wonderful Oboe solo of the gorgeous main theme that begins the concerto’s second movement, before the entrance of the solo violin.  I have a feeling Oboe players relish to play this solo part for their symphonies.  I also have a feeling this is one of the favorite concertos of violin virtuosos to solo in.

Please turn up the volume, play in full screen, relax, and listen to this beautiful moving music of Johannes Brahms and enjoy the unique Oboe solo that begins this “violin” concerto.

Note: while this You Tube video was not of the best video quality, I did not want to use the video that had much better clear visual quality and a more experienced virtuoso violinist because it had one major glitch for a brief second that to me ruined the opening.
