The great late nineteenth/early twentieth century American composer and band leader, John Philip Sousa, was born in Washington D.C., on November 6, 1854.

John Philip Sousa, lived in the late Romantic era from 1854 – 1932. Sousa was a valuable treasure to the military, and to the patriotic fervor of the USA with his brilliant marches that honored this country. Sousa composed so many brilliant and iconic marches that he was known as “America’s march king“.
Three of my favorite John Philip Sousa’s marches are The Washington Post march, The Liberty Bell March, and Stars and Stripes Forever. The stirring Stars and Stripes march by John Philip Sousa has been officially recognized as America’s national march.
Please turn up the volume and enjoy these great stirring marches from America’s march king, John Philip Sousa.
