I was doing my usual walk on Saturday morning when I switched over on Tune In Radio to Seattle’s, All Classical Portland. I immediately was hearing a beautiful piano concerto that sounded mostly like it could have come from the classical era, but also with a lot of Romanticism. I thought I had heard this before, but couldn’t remember the composer. My first thought was from the great Irish pianist and composer, especially of some beautiful piano works, John Field. But then my second thought, it could be from the Austrian pianist and composer, Hummel. Usually it does well to stick with your first thought, but this time it was my second thought that was right. It was indeed, Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

This was Hummel’s Second Piano Concerto and it was scored in the key of A minor with 3 movements: 1. Allegro Moderato; 2. Larghetto; and [without a break], 3. Rondo, Allegro Moderato.
So, please turn up the volume and enjoy this beautiful piano concerto by Johann Nepomuk Hummel that helped me get through my morning walk on last Saturday.
